Google has purchased Focals by North as a bid to use their augmented reality technology as their own. Focals by North created a headset that is lightweight and only has to connect to a phone using Bluetooth to display pertinent information to the user. This comes a few years after Google failed with it’s own augmented reality headset which was expensive and bulky. We will likely see them create a new headset under the Google brand.

- Focals North provides users with frictionless access to mobile apps with equipment the user has.
- Though Google’s had initially created their own version of augmented reality glasses, the product failed.
“According to the By North support pages, the Focals product allowed users to see baseball scores, weather, answer texts, access their calendar and other useful functions.”
